2011 Friendly Neets
2011 Friendly Neets proved to be popular with the visitors who found us in Alnmouth. Plans are being made for next year, again on Sunday evenings; probably starting on July 15th through till September 9th. We are currently working on new sets of music, and looking to incorporate some excitement from Alnmouth’s colourful history!
Australian National Folk Festival, Exhibition Park, Canberra
Susan and Malcolm ran two Northumbrian Smallpipe workshops during the festival on Friday 22nd and Monday 25th April. One was a themed presentation covering history of the Northumbrian Smallpipes and their music, accompanied by demonstration of some of the common repertoire. The second was a beginners workshop, about 11 people came and tried the Northumbrian Smallpipes.
We had a great time.
Young Hearts Run Free - in 2010 Susan contributed to the soundtrack for this locally made film.
Premiered Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle. Sunday 3rd April 2011

Andy Mark Simpson is a talented young northeast filmmaker who’s created his first feature – a gritty 1970s-set tale of first love set in a quiet Northumbrian village.
Teenage artist Mark is stuck in a community in turmoil, and against a backdrop of a crumbling economy and strikes at the local mine he finds himself caught between attraction to new girl Sue, up from London and turning heads, and his best friend Claire. This brilliant new feature is another example of the talent that we have living and working in the north east.
